Melbourne Tennis Park is the home of the Australian Open and Tennis World. This national centre was officially opened in January 2013 and is also used as a training facility and is made up of 21 courts, from indoor to outdoor, plexi-cushion and clay courts. The Tennis World members have access to the various facilities onsite located within the Melbourne Park precinct and during the off season its rooms are used for function events, training and meetings.
Melbourne Park have 8 outdoor Italian clay courts and is ideally the best training surface for upcoming stars to practice on a European style surface. The clay courts offer the best learning opportunities and due to the specialised surface there is minimal impact on your body, knees and back and is perfect for developing skills. The clay courts are made up of five layers with the top two layers are known as “Hard of the court” dust, which is imported from Italy. With European equipment, Ace Tower Hire had the perfect resources to deliver the equipment access needed on these sensitive clay courts. Tennis Melbourne had strict requirements and stipulated that the works must not disturb or inconvenience any players and must be completed in the safest and most efficient manner. Ace Tower Hire utilised its various resources by using its far-reaching 70m EWPs known as ‘cherry pickers’ and our unique compact Spyder lifts on tracks which had the ability to track across courts and operate between the narrow walkways gaining the access to the clay court sports flood lighting poles. We also engaged its traffic division “Ace Traffic Solutions” to control the site and ensure the safety of all pedestrians and players while works were being undertaken.
